thanks to RUINATION's former guitarist Andy (who now plays in NIGHTBRINGER which are one of the best bands around at the moment!) I was finally able to get the THEY LIVE / RUINATION split 7". sad but true the 3 THEY LIVE songs aren't doing that much for me and are not even half as good as their other stuff. luckily RUINATION make up for that with 4 great tracks. you can check it out by clicking on the cover. on a side note: the same cover was used on (at least) 2 other records! I guess that's enough...

DOGMA IN CONTROL

time for RUINATION once again! this time with their DEAD HORSE 4 song 7" that was released on NO IDEA Records! mine came in clear wax and had blank labels of which one was white and the other was black. the 1st song on this little rager is called HOLY TERROR and is one of the best RUINATION tracks ever and a great example of the strangest thing about them. as you might know the people in RUINATION live in 2 different nations with hundreds of km of distance between them. that´s why they treat their records like projects which means they meet for a weekend, write songs, rehearse them and finally record them. if you´ve just a tiny little bit of knowledge about being in a band you know that this conditions are more or less the opposite of good. now, cause of this the sound on this 7" has it´s weak moments here and there, but somehow they manage that this "weakness" flatters them! they are the only band that has a mix where the guitars have a sound that is more than thin at some points and it sound cool nevertheless!

THE SWARM a.k.a. KNEE DEEP IN THE DEAD evolved out of the ashes of LEFT FOR DEAD and music-wise they didn't really change much! any of these tracks could have been on anything LEFT FOR DEAD have released - which is the best thing they could have done! this 10", which is called PARASITIC SKIES, delivers 9 tracks of fierce and angry HARDCORE that sounds so pissed off you can't believe it till you've heard it! the picture fro the backcover below is like a picture of the devastating power of this bands! I guess these guys are the most pissed off straight edgers the world has seen till now! if someone would ask me which of the two bands is the better one, THE SWARM or LEFT FOR DEAD, I wouldn't be able to tell! I'd say it's a draw! seems like Chris C. can't do no wrong! if you look at the other bands he was involved... really big surprise, eh? nice grey-marbled vinyl, too!

LOVE THE MUSIC HATE THE KIDS!

when I heard the HAYMAKER 12" for the first time and read the lyrics for the first time, I decided right then and there that this is the best new band, that I´ve heard in years! they´ve some of the best lyrics I´ve read till now! seems like VOORHEES have finally met their match! HAYMAKER are more nihilistic and sarcastic and care even less than VOORHEES! in one word: brilliant!

this split 7" has 2 tracks from germoney`s MÖRSER and 3 tracks from canada`s THE SWARM a.k.a. KNEE DEEP IN THE DEAD. the people that played in THE SWARM went on to bands like RUINATION, HAYMAKER, etc. to continue what they started there! if you know those bands you can guess what THE SWARM sound like! MÖRSER started as a sideproject of members of ACME and SYSTRAL but had 4 singers and 2 bassplayers! their newer stuff is more boring deathmetal than grindcore but this was their 2nd release that came out not to long after their 1st 12" two hours to doom and way back then MÖRSER kicked ass!

SPLITTING HEADS is LEFT FOR DEAD's discography and just in case you don't know let me tell you that LEFT FOR DEAD were one of the best bands that have ever existed! as only the good die young their discography is only 16 tracks (recorded in a studio) short. the CD comes with 11 live cuts to fill some space and great packaging: a silver on dark grey print and everything covered with stains that look like bloodstains! I included the live tracks in spite of the fact they are live tracks and no one needs 99,99% of all live recordings anyway! the exceptions are a few! the 16 studio songs however are 16 vicious, violent ragers that are splitting heads to pieces and whipe the floor with most other bands! click the last pic to download!
